Saskatoon, SK (CKLQ) – The Brandon Wheat Kings picked up their 4th consecutive victory on Friday night as they knocked off Saskatoon 4-1.

Logan Thompson stood on his head, turning aside 42 shots for his 11th victory of the season. Brandon was outshot in all three periods, but Thompson kept the Blades at bay making 15 saves in the first period alone.

The Wheat Kings offence came alive in the middle frame as they scored three goals in a span of 8:04. Despite being heavily outshot,  Baron Thompson, Cole Reinhardt, Linden McCorrister would find the back of the net in the 2nd period to give Brandon a much needed lead at the intermission.

An early third period goal gave the Blades some life, but they soon found themselves in penalty trouble as Brandon had back to back 5 on 3 opportunities. Stelio Mattheos would find the back of the net on one of those two man advantages, giving Brandon a 4-1 lead.

Brandon would finish the night 2/7 on the powerplay while killing off four of five Blades chances.

Both Schael Higson and Connor Gutenberg would finish the night with two assists, while Braden Schneider picked up an assist as well in his first game back since returning from the U-17 tournament.

Brandon will welcome Swift Current to Westman Place on Sunday afternoon for the final home game of November. (3:30 pre-game show on Q-Country).
