Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – In one of the most thrilling comebacks of the season, the Brandon Wheat Kings overcame a 4-0 deficit to earn a 5-4 shootout win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday night.

In front of a sold-out Westoba Place, the Brandon Wheat Kings kept the fans on the edge of their seats. The Warriors, who had suffered an OT loss to Brandon 24-hours prior, quickly opened up what appeared to be a comfortable lead. Brandon Klatt and Tanner Jeannot each had a pair of goals for the Warriors who lead 4-0 midway through the second period.

Cue the comeback.

Evan Weinger and Luka Burzan would score just two minutes apart to end the 2nd period and give the Wheat Kings some life.

Ty Lewis would reach the 100 point mark on the season with a powerplay goal early in the third to set up a thrilling finish to regulation time.

With the goalie pulled, and the extra attacker on Schael Higson sent a low shot towards the Warriors goal where Luka Burzan tipped it home to tie the game and send the crowd into a frenzy.

Dylan Myskiw stole the show in the overtime period making a pair of highlight reel stops on WHL Leading Scorer, Jayden Halbgewachs. Myskiw would finish the night with 17 saves through 65 minutes.

After three on three OT solved nothing, a twelve man shootout ensued with Luka Burzan putting the final dagger in his old club beating Adam Evanoff for the game winner and the unofficial “hat-trick” on the final night of the WHL Regular Season.

The Wheat Kings will now have a week to prepare for their first round playoff opponent, the Medicine Hat Tigers. The series will open on Friday at the Canalta Centre. (8:30 MB time on QCountry Radio.)
