Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – The Brandon Wheat Kings snapped a four-game losing streak on Friday night as they beat the Swift Current Broncos 3-2 in overtime.

Ty Lewis scored 3:32 into the extra frame to lift the Wheat Kings to victory as they got a much needed extra point against the team they are chasing in the East Division standings. The overtime win makes Brandon a perfect 7-0 in the extra frame this season.

The Broncos actually lead twice on the night as Matteo Gennaro scored a pair of goals, his 23rd and 24th of the season but it was a resilient effort from a Brandon club playing their sixth game in nine days.

Baron Thompson and Evan Weinger added goals from Brandon who limited the Broncos to just 26 shots. This was a huge improvement over the 61 shots allowed on Wednesday night in Regina.

Brandon finished the night 1/5 on the powerplay while the Broncos failed to convert on their only chance.

Brandon will welcome one of the hottest teams in the WHL on Sunday afternoon when the Saskatoon Blades come to town. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:00 at Westman Place.
