Riley Lindgren had a hat trick and an assist while Jordan Papirny made 25 saves as the Swift Current Broncos handed the Wheat Kings their fifth consecutive loss on Tuesday night.

Brandon, who came into the night 7 points back of the Broncos for 3rd place in the Eastern Division failed to build on a much improved effort from last week and dropped their 9th straight game away from Westman Place.

The Broncos would open the score late in the first period after Tyler Steenbergen sent a shot that appeared to hit Logan Thompson and stay out. But upon further review, the video goal judge ruled it a goal and the 18 year old had his 46th goal of the season.

**The goal originally credited to Steenbergen, was changed after the game to Riley Lindgren

Just 0:37 into the 2nd period, Brandon would get on the board. Former Bronco Kade Jensen took a pass from Nolan Patrick and snapped one thru the five-hole of Jordan Papirny for his 4th of the year.

The Wheat Kings would kill off a Reid Duke double minor midway thru the 2nd period, but couldn’t hold off the Bronco power play on their third attempt. Riley Lindgren beat Logan Thompson for his 1st of the night and helped the Broncos regain the lead.

Swift Current would add another before the period would end and for the 4th straight night, the Wheat Kings found themselves in a hole heading to the third period.

Another early period goal would give Brandon some life as Tyler Coulter finished off a beautiful passing play from Kale Clague and Stelio Mattheos to cut the lead back to one just 0:49 into the frame.

Despite the early Wheat Kings goal, the Broncos would add two more to lift themselves to a 5-2 victory.

The win was the Broncos 32nd of the season and gives them a 9 point advantage over the Wheat Kings for that 3rd spot in the division.

Brandon won’t have much time to dwell on the loss as they welcome the streaking Lethbridge Hurricanes to Westman Place tonight. (Wednesday).

The CKLQ pre-game show begins at 6:30, puck drop is slated for 7:00.
