The Brandon Wheat Kings dropped their fourth straight game, 4-0 to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday night.
It was a historic night at Canalta Centre as the Tigers retired the #9 of Tom Lysiak prior to the game. Lysiak, who is the highest drafted Tiger in NHL history joins former team mate Lanny McDonald in the rafters.
Despite outshooting the Tiger 5-0 to open the game, the Tigers would open the scoring.
David Quenneville fired an absolute rocket under the bar on the power play to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
Barely 7:00 later, Mason Shaw would capitalize on a goofy bounce in front and help the Tigers jump out to a 2-0 lead after one.
In the last four 1st periods played, the Wheat Kings have been outscored 9-1.
Medicine Hat dominated n the 2nd period, outshooting the Wheat Kings 18-8. They would add to their lead when Mark Rassell stripped Linden McCorrister of the puck and quickly beat Thompson over the shoulder for his 30th of the season.
The Tigers would add one more in the third on route to their 44th victory of the season.
Brandon found themselves in penalty trouble once again, taking six minor penalties. Aside from the games opening goal, the Brandon PK was perfect.
With Swift Current losing again, the Wheat Kings fail to gain any ground in their pursuit for 3rd place in the Eastern Division.
