Monday Roundup

New SJHL President Bill Chow was kind enough to join me in the press-box after the Melfort – Nipawin game last Friday. Chow was in town as he tours around the league. The best part of the night was when the Mustangs music man Jared Linnen played “Sharp Dressed Man” right after the President had been introduced. He claims it was a coincidence but I don’t believe him.

The interview is below.

-The SJHL has announced its week one awards.  Matt Hrynkiw of the Humboldt Broncos is the SJHL goaltender of the week. The Saskatoon native has stopped 39-40 shots he has faced this season while remaining undefeated at 2-0.

Meanwhile, Nipawin Hawks rookie Tad Kozun takes home Player of the Week honors. The local 18-year-old has 9 points in his first 5 games in the SJHL.

Brandt Weldon of the Flin Flon Bombers earned Defenseman of the Week honors with a 5 point week to open the season.

- You may be wondering why you are being routed here when you try to visit the now defunct Prairie Hockey Website. The small staff at Prairie Hockey could not meet demands without having it interfere with our day jobs. As a result we have shut down the website.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause as it was clear by the number of people visiting the site that it was gaining popularity.

-The Humboldt Broncos will hit the road this week. Darryl Skender will join them and have the call from Estevan tomorrow and Weyburn on Wednesday.  You can listen to both game on CK750 and online by clicking here.

-The 4-1 Nipawin Hawks will host the Mils tomorrow night at The Cage. Puck drop is 7:30.

-The Melfort Mustangs game Wednesday vs the Melville Millionaires will be aired on the Mustangs Broadcast network online starting at about 7:25. You can watch the game live by clicking below.
